Basketball Rules

Interlink Basketball Leagues are played in accordance with standard high school rules, with the following exceptions or modifications:

1. Clock- 2-20 minute periods. Running clock except on 2 shot free throws. 3 minute half time.

2. 6 fouls per player.

3. 2 time outs per half. NOTE: Time outs do not carry over.

4. Team fouls are not tracked until the last minute of the 1st half and the last 2 minutes of the 2nd half. 1 and 1's are shot on every non-shooting foul under 1 minute in the first half and 2 minutes in the second half. 2 shots are given on the 4th team foul under the 1 and 2-minute marks.

5. NO DUNKING! The dunking player will be given a Technical Foul and automatic ejection from the game.

6. Overtime - 3 minutes. The clock will run until the last minute. Bonus fouls carry over into the overtime, but only go into effect in the last minute. 1 time out per team in the overtime period.

7. Games are expected to start on time. In the event a game goes over time, the next game will begin 5 minutes after the previous game ends.

8. Forfeitures - There must be at least 5 players on the floor to start the game. Games will be considered forfeited if a team is more than 5 minutes late for the start of their games. If a team arrives before the five minutes has elapsed, the "game time" will be forfeited and 1 point per 30 seconds will be given to the opposing team. The first half will be played with the remaining time on the game clock.
